Advantages of wound ANOFOL aluminium strip

  • Aluminium strip does not require a flange on the coil body. The winding space can thus be utilized more efficiently in the coil housing.
  • Aluminium strip can be wound directly onto the core – without any cavity formation or loss of space at the end of the layer.
  • Aluminium strip only needs a thin insulation layer, since the interlayer voltage is equal to the voltage per turn. Consequently, the dielectric strength is easier to control.
  • Aluminium strip has a superior cooling ratio due to better-defined heat flux conditions. The heat dissipation is not obstructed by interlayer insulation or air spaces between the individual conductors. Moreover, the oxide layer has considerably higher thermal conductivity than other materials.
  • ANOFOL coils can be used at temperatures up to 500° C, since the oxide layer will not melt until it reaches 2000° C and the aluminium itself melts at 658° C.
